SERBIA ISSUED ARREST WARRANT FOR PETER EGNER

Peter Egner
Higher Court in Belgrade issued an arrest warrant for Peter Egner, ethnic German accused for war crimes in Belgrade during the Second World War.
Egner was born in Serbia, in Crvenka, and as Volkdeutsche from Aril 1941 he was member of the Gestapo in Belgrade. He is accused for participation in execution of 11.164 victims in 1941 – mainly male Serbian Jews, Serbs and Gypsies – and 6.280 more in 1942, mainly Jewish women and children. At the moment Egner is living in the U.S.A., but due to agreement signed last year between the U.S.A. and Serbia, there is possibility for Egner to be extradited to Serbia without prior trial in the U.S.A. and stripping him of U.S. citizenship
